Fechner Day was once again organized by Carl Bassi, PhD, Director of Research and Graduate Studies, and was held October 16th at the Millennium Student Center. The keynote speaker was renown neuroscientist, Susana Martinez-Conde, PhD whose lecture was entitled "Illusions and Illusionists: How to Fool the Brain with Magic and Other Tricks." Dr. Martinez-Conde provided a very entertaining and informative presentation to convince the audience that, in fact, everything can be an illusion. She then proceeded to support her theory with incredible imagery as she showed how the visual system processes information and then related it to how famous illusionists can successfully fool their respective audiences with visual illusions.
